The Case of the Stolen Bear
What you’re looking at is a piece that will be used for promotional purposes in next year’s Bearwatch, an extravaganza where a bunch of burly dudes covered in fur lather on the sunscreen and watch each other bake. At least that’s what the title insinuates. The guys in charge of the event helped me with some web stuff, so when they asked me to doodling something superhero-y, well, let’s just say they didn’t have to beg too hard.
Now, remember when I tweeted that I had a piece of art stolen from me at a coffee shop? The image above is it– sort of. I had scanned a version, and was unhappy with the lack of detail, so I added a few things, and someone liked my attention to cuff links and fabric squares so much that they took my illustration for his/herself before I could get it to the bears.
Anyway, thanks to the magic of cell shading and best friendery, I think the colors hide whatever shortcomings I saw in the piece.
